How much?
It depends on the agency and the car, rising with the car’s value. On Darivo the deposit is shown next to the price on every car, before you send a request. You can also limit the search to a maximum deposit.
How to pay it, and without a credit card?
Local agencies often accept several methods: cash, cheque, bank card or transfer. Many international rental companies require a credit card in the driver’s name; not every Moroccan agency does.
On Darivo each car shows the deposit methods its agency accepts. Without a credit card, pick a car whose agency accepts cash or cheque.
What can be deducted
- Damage found at return that wasn’t noted at pickup.
- Fines and tickets during the rental.
- Missing fuel, under the agency’s rule (full to full, or same level).
- Kilometres beyond the allowance, if the rental isn’t unlimited mileage.
Every deduction should match something found and justified. Ask for the details in writing.
Getting your deposit back without argument
- At pickup, have every defect written on the contract and take photos.
- Return the car on time, with the agreed fuel.
- Do the return inspection with the agent, and take new photos.
- Ask for a deposit receipt at pickup, and confirmation it was returned at the end.
Cash or cheque is usually returned on the spot. A card hold is released by the agency; your bank may take a few days to free the amount.
Frequently asked questions
Is the deposit included in the price shown?
No. The total price covers the rental, taxes and the delivery you chose. The deposit comes on top at handover and is returned at the end.
Can I pay the deposit in euros?
It depends on the agency. The amount is set in dirhams; ask in your request if you want to pay in another currency.
What if the agency keeps part of the deposit?
